LMC 8.4 R15 is one of the most searched older LMC builds. It added support for Exynos Samsung phones and let you choose the processing library for each lens. R15 has seven APK variants, more than any other LMC 8.4 release.

What’s new in LMC 8.4 R15

Changes

  • Exynos support, which the developer checked on the Galaxy Note20 Ultra, S21 Ultra and S10.
  • Library selection is now per module, for every lens except the front camera.
  • UX Mod and Sky Brightness added to the TEST patcher.
  • Night-mode sky detection is on by default, and can be used in ZSL and HDR+ with UX.
  • “Edge Enhancement (Portrait) Front” added to LMC Tweaks.
  • The shasta.zsl.max_exptime.ms value is shown in the exposure settings.
  • New Pixel 3m2 AWB and Pixel 3m2 GRGB options, CG1 in the colour settings, and several preset subtle noise reduction levels.
  • A Live HDR and iris switch button for Samsung, and more interface and model HDR choices.

Fixes

  • SpatialGainMap and “Dynamic ISO selection” in noise models.
  • Fixes for the Mi 12T Pro, improvements for the Mi 11 Ultra, and other device fixes.
  • All patcher settings restored for the front camera.
  • Default face definitions on for supported devices. Luma Denoise A/B moved to Main. HEVC video off by default.

Configs on R15

The developer says configs from previous versions still work. However, each lens now has its own library choice, so check the library setting for every lens after loading an older config. The built-in configs were updated for R15.

Which R15 package to choose

The R15 listing explains why there are seven files. The alternate packages are for phones that restrict access to extra cameras (wide, telephoto and so on). Phones without restrictions can install different packages side by side.

  • Standard (com.google.android.GoogleCameraEngR15): start here.
  • snapcam and qcamera3: Snapdragon devices.
  • aweme: some Realme, OPPO and OnePlus devices.
  • ruler and scan3d: Samsung devices.
  • glens: for Google Lens.

R15 or R18F1?

If you have an Exynos Galaxy and a config made for R15, R15 is a sensible choice. For a new install, start with R18F1, which keeps the Exynos work and adds later fixes. Note that R16 removed several tuning settings, so an R15 config can look different on R16 and later.

Where R15 fits in the LMC 8.4 timeline

R15 is a turning point in LMC 8.4. Before it, Exynos Samsung phones were not supported, and every lens shared one processing library. After it, R16 removed several tuning settings (noise model, upscaling, black level and Julian CT) that many older configs relied on. So R15 is the last build that has both Exynos support and those classic tuning settings. That is why it is still popular with people who tune their own configs, and why “LMC 8.4 R15” is still searched so often in Bangladesh and India.

How to install LMC 8.4 R15

  1. Use the download buttons above to get one file, normally LMC8.4_R15.apk.
  2. Check that the filename matches one of the seven listed on this page.
  3. Open the APK and allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps.
  4. Open LMC, allow camera and photo access, and test the main and front cameras.
  5. Open LMC Tweaks and check the library chosen for each lens. Since R15 it is set per lens.
  6. Load an R15 config for your phone from the config library.

R15 Standard uses com.google.android.GoogleCameraEngR15, which no other LMC release uses, so it installs next to R17 or R18F1. The alternate packages (snapcam, aweme, qcamera3, ruler, scan3d, glens) share their IDs with other releases. Uninstall the other copy first if you switch.

R15 on Samsung Exynos phones

The developer checked Exynos support on the Galaxy Note20 Ultra, S21 Ultra and S10. Other Exynos models were not named, so treat them as untested until you try them. For Galaxy phones:

  • Try Standard first, then scan3d or ruler if extra lenses are missing.
  • R15 also added a Live HDR and iris switch button for Samsung.

Common R15 problems

  • Front camera looks wrong after loading an old config: R15 restored all patcher settings for the front camera, so older front-camera values may now apply differently.
  • HEVC video missing: HEVC is off by default in R15. Turn it on in the video settings if your phone supports it.
  • Different look between lenses: each lens now has its own library. Check the library for every lens, not just the main one.
