Is R13 still worth using?

R13 can still be the right choice when you follow a config or tutorial made for it. In every other case, newer builds add fixes and features: R14 adds Material You, R15 adds Exynos support and per-lens libraries, and R18F1 is the latest. Compare them on the LMC 8.4 old versions page.

What the R13 Fix2 changes mean in practice

  • ISO100, Max.Time and Max.ISO shutter options give you more control in manual and night shooting. ISO100 keeps noise low in good light. Max.Time and Max.ISO push exposure for very dark scenes, at the cost of more noise or motion blur.
  • Session selection for system initialisation decides how LMC starts the camera on your phone. It can take precedence over photo mode, so a wrong session can make the camera fail to open. Leave it at the default unless a config or guide for your phone says otherwise.
  • Six new sessions were added to the end of the list, which gives more options for phones that would not start with the older sessions.

Is R13 the same as R13 Fix2?

Fix2 is the last update of the R13 release, and its files are the ones listed here. Earlier R13 builds are not listed separately.

Can I use an R13 config on R18?

LMC 8.4 configs often carry over between releases, but R16 removed several tuning settings. An R13 config may look different on newer builds, so test it before relying on it.

Which R13 APK should I download?
